6 weeks to go!

Last night we went to the hospital where we are (I am) giving birth. It was so great to see the environment in which our child will come into this world. We are definitely getting anxious as the day approaches, and the little guy inside of me seems to be getting anxious, too. He won't stop kicking me in the side! I have still been feeling great (although Michael seems to be on the receiving end of most of my discomforts). I think that teaching and staying as active as I can has really been helpful. I've gained about 20 pounds so far, although the baby is definitely growing this month! In terms of baby Mauss' development, even though he is only 33 weeks old, here are some cool milestones he's already passed. I found this from an incredible article you can find here:
**From 12 weeks, unborn babies can stretch, kick and leap around the womb - well before the mother can feel movement

**From 18 weeks, they can open their eyes although most doctors thought eyelids were fused until 26 weeks

**From 26 weeks, they appear to exhibit a whole range of typical baby behaviour and moods, including scratching, smiling, crying, hiccoughing, and sucking. Until recently it was thought that smiling did not start until six weeks after birth!
I go in for probably my last ultrasound in a week or so. I'm hoping to get a 3D image! It would be neat to compare this image with Baby Mauss after he is born. =)
Thank you to everyone who is praying for us and the safe entry of our child into the world. (If you could all pray for Cheri Mallahan, as well, who is due any minute with her second child!) I know that God will bless us with joys and also with trials and challenges that will draw us closer to Him. I just can't wait to find out what those joys and challenges may be!

Praying for you, Kris. I will call you back someday. :) This weekend was a little crazy for the Herring family. Not to scare you or anything, but I gained the most in my last month. Hehe :) You look beautiful.
