Lake Chelan

A couple of weeks ago we ventured eastside to Lake Chelan (techincally we were on lake entiat) with the rest of the Mauss family: Mom and Dad Mauss and Shelley, Jonathan, and Thomas. We spent a week doing nothing (the only time we got in the car was to go to Mass) and it was fabulous. Michael went golfing, I read tons of books, Avila played in her pool and hung out with her cousin, and Max slept. We feel blessed for this time to recharge and for the chance to recognize, once again, that family is one of the most important things in the world.

Some highlights of our week:

~not having to cook every night - Shelley and I alternated cooking for the clan
~everyone living in their swimsuits all week. I seriously packed way too much...
~Avila went intertubing for the first time! (with daddy along for the ride, of course)
~watching Avila and Thomas have a blast together. They are two peas in a pod.
~Grandma and Grandpa getting to spoil their little ones...with lots and lots of hugs, kisses, and candy
~seeing daddy get to play and play with his kids. I LOVE watching them together
~Max sleeping just about all the time. After a week prior of only sleeping on me, I took the time during vacation to work with Max in getting him to fall asleep and stay asleep on his own. I learned some tricks about him and the fruits of my labor definitely payed off. One night he slept 12 hours without a feeding, ate, and then slept 3 more before I finally woke him. You go Max!

Here are some pictures from our trip:

Avila's morning "parfait" made by daddy

Grandma and Max

I bet boaters though we were the "fun house" given we had every inflatable toy imaginable strewn all over the yard

Avila's afternoons were spent floating in her own private pool

the "Relaxation Station." We ended up floating this in the water for a while - an awesome way to cool off

Avila couldn't get enough of the boat

uh oh, cousin!

don't bite the hand that feeds you, Thomas. oh wait, you did!

oh, brother...

Grandpa and Max - who wouldn't be chill while someone rubbed your tummy?

picking flowers so she can marry daddy

before her first intertube ride!

bright blue eyes and laffy taffy in the mouth - doesn't get any better :)

(the following pictures were taken by Shelley...)

the moment before daddy broke the slip n' slide...

we have a theory that Max's tongue is too big for his mouth

my favorite picture in the whole world.
