It's what's for dinner.

OK, more like lunch (and breakfast and snacks).

Smoothies are a regular part of our day. Between Michael, the kids, and myself I run our blender about 5-6 times a day. Praise baby Jesus Lola sleeps through it all (except the time she didn't and I had to bring the blender into the living room for a few days....)

I try to get create and maximize the bang for our buck. Plus the kids like to guess all the crap stuff ingredients I put in them.







Here are a few of our favs:

For the hubs (he only likes one kind, imagine that):
1 cup water
1 cup frozen strawberries
1/2 banana
1/2 cup liquid egg whites (FOUND HERE - not the same as regular egg whites!)
1 scoop VEGA protein powder or this one
ice


For me:
Frappiccino: (for Frosty type leave out coffee)
1 c almond milk 
1 c coffee (reg or decaf)
1/2 frozen banana or 1/4 avocado
1 scoop vanilla VEGA protein powder
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp turmeric
pinch xantham gum (prob 1/2 tsp)
Splash of pure vanilla extract or splash of sugar free caramel coffee syrup
lots of ice

Green Smoothie
1 c almond milk
1 scoop vanilla Vega Protein Powder
Large handful spinach (2 cups?)
1/4 avocado 
(can add 1/2 frozen banana)
Splash sugar free caramel syrup
1/2 tsp Xantham gum
lots of ice

(BUT neither of those are quite on the "meal plan" so here are my "approved" shakes of choice…)

NON Lifting Days
1 cup water
1/2 cup liquid egg whites (see above for link)
2 cups spinach
1/4 avocado
Splash of sugar free caramel syrup (Torani is NOT gluten free. I use Monin)
Lots of ice




LIFTING Days (Post Workout)
1 cup water
1/2 cup liquid egg whites (see above for link)
1 scoop VEGA Sport Performance Protein (this one is different because it has BCAA's to rebuild muscle)
1/2 Frozen banana
1/4 cup GF oats
1/2 tsp Turmeric (super anti-inflammatory)
1/2 tsp Nutmeg
1 tsp Cinnamon (insulin regulating)


Yes, this was in our hotel room in Florida. I pack the blender everywhere……



For the kids: (these all make 3 big servings)
Mixed Berry
1 cup coconut milk (or rice milk)
1 cup water
2 cups spinach
1/2 avocado
1 banana
1 cup frozen strawberries
1/2 cup frozen mixed berries


Breakfast Smoothie
1 cup coconut milk (or rice milk)
1 cup water
1/2 cup dry GF oats
1 TB chia seeds
2 TB cocoa powder
2 TB sunbutter (or almond butter, but not for Max)
1 banana
little bit of ice

Green (Hawaiian) Smoothie
1 cup coconut water
1 cup regular water
frozen banana
1/2 cucumber
handful spinach or kale
whole pear OR apple (seeds/pit removed)
frozen mango or Tropical fruit blend (you rock Costco)



So there you go. Time to go wake the kids up with a Breakfast Smoothie.
